Bike sketching in an industrial neighborhood

22 July, 2014. I rode through this neighborhood this morning. It has largely evolved into an industrial area, but there are still clusters of three and four houses at a time up and down the street, and along the side roads. For the most part these houses will seem to be pretty run down to the casual passers-by, but I notice that many are decorated in bright, esoteric colors, and the yards tend to have unusual pieces of folk art on display. The occupants obviously take an active interest in the place they live, even if they are surrounded and dwarfed by warehouses, manufacturers, meat plants, railroad, and the ilk. (Kansas City, Missouri near The Local Pig Charcuterie. Lamy pen and loose watercolor washes in Moleskin watercolor journal.)
